beautiful job on the fur! Overall great composition, you can feel the energy between the 2 of them. very striking. How long would you guestimate you spent on the fur alone?

Thank you! It's hard to work out, I get about 8 hours a week to paint and this one was on my desk for quite a while! Most of my paintings have between 60- 100 hours work on them. So probably at least 20 or 30 hours on wolf fur alone?!

Well you certainly have a gift. I'm just learning what works best for me drawing human hair. I find fur so much more complex. I'm a little intimidated to draw animals because of it. It's clear you spent alot of time on this piece.

I did a few pale washes on the wolf to get the general background colour of each area, then started with the lighter fur colours and gradually built up to the darker colours. It was just a LOT of tiny, tiny brushstrokes!
