Artist's Comments

Watercolour. Based on the Frog Prince faery tale.

Thank you hugely to the very beautiful Antonia [link] for being both the model and the muse for this one. And for not complaining when I said a frog was in love with her!

Digital camera photo, I'll upload a scan in time.

:blushes: Awww, I love it! The whole painting blows me away and I'm very honoured and pleased to have inspired it a little. :excited: The details are incredible. :faint: and the whole feel is so magickal. Amazing

The sad-looking figure above the fairy looks very odd there while the rest seems readily well-done.
What's your special hint to put this into your pic? :clueless:
:iconalexandradawe:
When I paint my inspiration is sometimes from an existing story, in this case the Frog Prince, and sometimes I imagine my own stories about the paintings as I work. In this one the frog is an enchanted human, he loves the faery, but cannot tell her his feelings in his current form. The sad figure at the top is there to show the pain he feels inside, hiding his feelings from her. But we know that this faery tale will have a happy ending when he becomes human again.

I hope that helps to answer your question? Thank you for looking, and commenting.

Thanks for your reply. :lightbulb:

Your idea of that sad figure is quite understandable. With respect to your explaination, I was just thinking that under the mushroom umbrella could be a good shelter for his sadness and suggesting the better meaning of hiding or hidden feelings. In this case, the sad figure sits (very far) at the other side of the frog, so the tacit connection between this two is not as effective as it should be. ;)
